How I follow AI news without drowning
A simple filter for model releases, product launches, and industry noise.
AI news moves fast. Most of it is not actionable for builders.
Here’s the filter I use before something makes it onto the channel or this journal:
Signal checklist
- Does it change what I can ship this month? New APIs, cheaper inference, better evals — yes. Vague roadmap rumors — no.
- Is it reproducible? Demos without numbers or open weights get a lower priority than papers + code + benchmarks you can re-run.
- Who is the real user? Enterprise hype vs. indie-builder utility are different stories.
Sources I trust more
- Primary model/vendor posts (with caveats)
- Practitioner write-ups from people who ship
- Release notes and changelogs over social threads
What I’ll cover on the channel
When a release is big enough, I’ll break down: what changed, who it helps, and how a builder might use it next week — not next year.
